Luke 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master we have toild all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And twhen they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus knees', saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
This is one of my favorite scriptures, it is a word of Faith, of Hope and of Promise. Here Jesus uses Peter's boat and when he is finished he wants to bless Peter for sharing his boat with him. But Peter responds to Jesus, "We have toiled all night." Meaning they worked Long and Hard! It was a strenuous fatiguing night of labor, it was a struggle just to make it through with out catching anything. And now here is Jesus asking them to go back out and try one more time. Peter is obedient dispite his argument because he has a little faith and trust. With that faith he lets down his nets and is rewarded with a catch so great it weighs down not 1 but 2 boats. The greatest catch of Peter's life no doubt. A catch that is abudent and overflowing more than Peter could ever imagine. A blessing so great that it brought Peter to his knees, he was astonished.
Some days in our own life and even ministry it may feel as though we have toiled all night that we have worked hard in vain and have produced nothing of value. That we have cast our our nets for the harvest and they seem to come up empty. It's in those moment that Jesus is encouraging us just as He did for Peter. He says "I see your labor and your willingness to support me, keep casting that net and I will fill it beyond your imagination so abudently it will burst." In that obedience God will be faithful and He will bless you so greatly you will be astonished. Keep Casting.
